In September 2022, the Cleburne County Animal Shelter was established as a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, tasked with overseeing the shelter currently under construction through the collaborative efforts of the Cleburne County Commission and the City of Heflin. Our board consists of dedicated volunteers who invest numerous hours each month to further our mission through research, networking with fellow animal welfare organizations, and participating in workshops and conferences.
Over the past two years, the board has focused on organizing fundraising events to secure operational funds, as well as resources for equipment, vaccines, medications, and programs aimed at positively impacting the abandoned and stray animal population in Cleburne County.
Each day brings us closer to the grand opening of our new facility, marking the beginning of our commitment to transforming the lives of abandoned and stray animals in Cleburne County.
The mission of this organization, within the shelter and the community, is to promote animal welfare, eliminate animal suffering, and encourage a greater appreciation for the human-animal bond through direct action, community education, and communications by first providing an adequate sheltering facility for humane care and adoption potential, as well as serving as a centralized point of communication between fosters, rescues, and animal welfare supporters.
